A robotic arm graduation project, built on Piclaro

A mechatronics graduation team at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AAST) needed to go from CAD files to a working robotic arm before their thesis defense, with a student budget and no in-house workshop.

The brief

The project called for a multi-axis robotic arm: rigid structural links, a custom control board to drive the motors, and a stable base to mount everything on. Like most graduation projects, the constraints were real: a fixed defense date, a limited budget, and zero margin for parts that didn't fit together on the first try.

What Piclaro delivered

The outcome

All three parts of the build (printed links, PCB, and laser-cut mounts) arrived matched to spec and assembled without rework. The team demoed a fully functional arm at their defense, on schedule, and moved straight from parts in hand to a working prototype instead of spending their final weeks firefighting fabrication issues.
